Oscar - Week Fifty Two
At Grandma and Grandpa's this week they gave him his first birthday present! He did not quite know what to do with the wrapping paper but with some help he opened his gift! He also let grandma and grandpa give him a bottle so that was a gift for them too.
On Saturday we had Oscar's birthday party! We woke him up in the morning with balloons which he just calls 'ba' or 'balls'. He really enjoyed that but then was mad when we made him get out of bed and eat breakfast.
The party was Star Wars themed and so much fun. Everyone we love who was able to travel came to the party. Our tiny house was jam packed full of people! Jose and I both wore our Star Wars shirts and all the food and decorations were starwars themed in one way or another. We sang Happy Birthday and helped Oscar blow out his candle. Oscar touched the icing on his cake but did not seem to like the way it felt. He ate one bite of icing but not much more. He doesn't usually like sweets so this was not a big surprise.
He let grandma give him a bottle but wanted to get up and play pretty quickly after. Oscar mostly chased the other kids around. He was mediumly interested in opening presents. He did like to rip the wrapping paper but it was hard to concentrate with all those people around.
After everyone left for the evening, he took a REALLY good nap, and after dinner, we tried giving him a cupcake with no icing. He made a face on the first bite but he kept eating it so he must have liked it!
Sunday, we went to my dad's house so Oscar could play more with his cousins who came into town for the party. It was nice to get to talk to my brother and his wife where it was a little bit quieter than the party.
On Tuesday after work we started driving to Denver! Oscar did amazing and slept pretty much the whole ride until we got to the hotel. Where we set up the pack and play and conked out for the evening.
